Bob Weddle - Rest in Peace our Friend

Bob Weddle, fellow Ghost Rider, passed away Saturday, March 16th. He was a man who had a passion for living. He worked hard, was dedicated to his family, gave to the community and simply made you feel energized just by being around him.

Through his work at Modern Woodmen of America, Bob volunteered countless hours and, with the matching fund program, donated thousands of dollars to many nonprofit organizations including the Goldfield Ghost Riders. Although unorganized at times, he always managed to get his card stops together!

He was always the first one to step up to the plate for a job involving a microphone. He loved it ... made us laugh and poked fun at us running the gymkhana's. Singing was another thing, quite the entertainer both on stage and off. His rich, baritone voice and joy grabbed your attention. You will be missed!

NOTICE! Pinal County Limiting Horses and Livestock to 2 animals per acre under proposed new zoning ordinance

Dear Horse Lovers,

Pinal County is proposing to set a limit of 2 horses per acre for properties currently having no limit on the number of horses or livestock. Please read below for more details. Then go to the Pinal County website and submit your comments. Also, please plan to attend at least one of the planned public hearings to voice your opinion regarding the proposed limitations. There is strength in numbers. Thanks for your support.

A proposed Pinal County zoning ordinance has been drafted that limits the number of large animals to 2 per acre (large animals...such as cattle, horses, sheep or goats). Pinal County proposes to repeal the existing zoning ordinance adopted on June 18th 1962 that established the suburban ranch and the general rural zones that allow for an unlimited number of large animals such as the horse. Instead, ranchers will now be limited to 2 large animals per acre. That means only 2 large animals on 1 acre, 4 large animals on 2 acres, 6 large animals on 3.3 acres, etc.

If passed as drafted, the new Pinal zoning will mark the end of a way of life in Pinal County pertaining to rural lifestyle. As for grandfathered rights, yes it will pertain, but not in the event of a loss of an animal.

Citizens have the opportunity to submit their comments and also to attend two public meetings. Please check below and on the Pinal County website for dates and times. PLEASE ATTEND ONE OR ALL OF THESE MEETINGS. Tell your friends and go together in a group in needed.

View proposed change here. Or read this warning.

These are the sections of the proposed zoning ordinance pertaining to horses and livestock:

Pinal County draft zoning ordinance- article 13 sec. 1302.2, article 14 sec. 1402.2, article 15 sec. 1502.2, article 16 sec. 162.2 also article 1 sec. 109 repeal and sec. 109.1.

Scroll to pages 13-1,14-1,15-1,16-1 and read sections 1302.2,1402.2,1502.2,1602.2.

ZONING UPDATE

Email from Angela:

"Residents,

We received word the other day that Pinal County has changed the new zoning ordinances. They claim that they have reverted it back to it's original, though they claim this number is 5. Of this truth to original, I am unclear at this time. There are still many changes that are to take place that adversely affect residents of our area. I am going to consult a few core members, but for myself, I will still be making an appearance at the pinal county meeting on the 19th
[October]. By no means can we afford to let them believe that we will be pacified by a minor change, this will only reflect on the other issues we have such as developments (Cactus Springs and others) that will go before them. As a group we will understand if you do not/cannot attend.

I also have this link available if anyone is interested, some of the changes are highlighted, by P.C. others are not. I have received an email from David Snider who claims no knowledge of certain issues we have brought up as has another member of P.C. Therefore again, I will be present at meeting on the 19th.

Thanks everyone for your sticking together,
Angela"

ZONING MEETING UPDATE (OCT 22, 2007)

The meeting in Florence today concerning the proposed zoning changes for the entire county was attended by over 400 livestock and equine owners and concerned citizens. The meeting ran for over three hours and the county employees took several notes.

They started out to trying to assure everyone that this draft plan will not change your current zoning. It would go into effect when you requested to change the zoning for your property. They also said the had heard the mail and had change the number of animals allow in articles 12, 14, 15, and 16 (these were the rural zoning properties are addressed) to unlimited. But on article 20 (residential one acre) it still limited the number to two large animals including goats and sheep. Also noted was some problems with set back requirements when you have livestock on your property.

They also have increased the number of acres needed to operate a commercial boarding or riding stables from 10 acres to 20 acres to include set back requirement issues also.

The County personnel tried to address some of the questions and took notes when they encountered problems they could not address.

Another thing they did address was the issue of having only day time meetings, they have now scheduled an evening meeting starting at 6 PM on Oct 25 in the county complex building F. So on Oct 25 they will now have three meetings. Starting at 9 AM, with the second at 1 PM and then the evening meeting at 6 PM all located in the same building.

This is the opportunity to make your voice heard concerning this change in zoning. Lets keep the pressure up on them and attend the meetings.

Thanks again

Chip
